The Lower Town Arts District offers hands-on creative experiences and gallery exhibitions along with the popular yearly music festival. The River Discovery Center also exhibits the significance and heritage of the surrounding area.
Whitehaven Welcome Center
The Whitehaven Welcome Center or Anderson-Smith House is a historic home in Paducah. It serves as a welcome and rest area for Kentucky visitors. The historic home was built in the Classical Revival style and features two domed bell towers. The home also features a large terrace overlooking the river.
Visit the LowerTown Arts District, the National Quilt Museum or stroll along the Paducah Riverwalk. Visit the Lloyd Tilghman House and Civil War Museum. This is a historical house that has been turned into a museum. It showcases Western Kentucky’s role in the Civil War.
For a more educational experience, visit the River Discovery Center. The facility has several interactive exhibits that celebrate Paducah’s maritime legacy and lore. In the pilothouse simulator, you can try out your skills as a captain of a towboat or pleasure boat. The center encourages interest in and Knowledge of the country’s crucial rivers in people of all ages.
Bob Noble Park
Located in Paducah KY, Bob Noble Park is one of the city’s premier parks. It offers a wide variety of recreational activities and is home to the Peck Education Trail. In addition, it also hosts a variety of annual events, such as fundraising walks and concerts/movies at the amphitheater during the summer.
The 145-acre park, located centrally in Midtown, features a five acre lake, gazebos and fishing piers. It also has walking paths, a swimming pool, and access to the Greenway Trail. Other amenities include a skatepark, picnic areas, an outdoor amphitheater, a music garden and playgrounds.
The park was named after Captain Robert Noble who donated $10,000 to improve the area. Many of the park’s features were built after his donation, including a large green space that was once a swamp. The Sons of Confederate Veterans local chapter operates the Lloyd Tilghman House Museum in the park. The museum highlights the role of western Kentucky in the American Civil War.
William Clark Market House Museum
William Clark market House Museum offers a unique educational experience with a collection artifacts that tell the story of Paducah. The exhibits change regularly so there is always something new for visitors to discover.
The museum is conveniently located in downtown Paducah, and other attractions such as the Yeiser Art Center or Noble Park are easily accessible. Visitors can take a guided tour or explore the exhibits at their own pace. The museum is open from the first Saturday in March through mid-December.
Exhibits include a magnificent Old Paris wedding vase given to Clark by the Marquis de Lafayette, the full golden oak woodwork of the DuBois Robertson Drug Store built in 1876 (later List Drug Store) and the beautiful rosewood furniture from the original List drug store that was re-created for this museum. An Alben Barkley Memorial Room honors the 35th Vice President of the United States who was born in Paducah, and an extensive Civil War display includes a quilt made by Mrs. Robert E. Lee and chairs used by the Lincolns in their White House.
Dry Ground Brewing Company
Located inside Paducah’s historic Coke Plant, Dry Ground Brewing Company is the city’s first microbrewery. It offers a vast array of craft drafts, including house brews. It also hosts special events, such as Drink & Draw and Geeks Who Drink Trivia Thursdays.
